Surrounded by Science is organising its final event, Surrounded by Science Open Days, in July 2024 through a series of exciting activities, teacher workshops and talks!
Join us in Greece for a week “surrounded by science”! We will discuss aspects of Surrounded by Science such as science learning ecologies, science proficiency, and ways to bridge formal and informal science learning experiences, while also drawing links to contemporary developments in education such as open schooling, turning schools into living labs, and a focus on sustainability citizenship. Dedicated workshops will be implemented in synergy with ESIA’s international teacher professional development summer schools, with Surrounded by Science offering teachers ways to integrate science teaching and learning in the classroom with informal learning activities.
The project will also be disseminated via an influential event in Greece organised by the National Center for Scientific Research Demokritos in celebration of the 70th anniversary of CERN, which is addressed to the scientific community as well as the broader public. What’s more, as part of Surrounded by Science’s final event, Ellinogermaniki Agogi is opening its doors on the 2nd and 9th of July to showcase to the educational community how informal activities are being integrated into the school environment. A highlight of these activities is the CERN exhibition currently hosted by Ellinogermaniki Agogi, while visitors will also be offered tours of the school’s observatory, Foucault pendulum, and seismometer.
